CVDI was awarded the EAGER: US IGNITE: for the Collaborative Exploration in Networked VR Environments, and Application to Remotely-Guided Classroom project.

This project focuses on emerging virtual reality (VR) technology and high-performance networks for collaborative exploration of 3D environments, and on the application of such environments to education. Dr. Christoph Borst and his researchers will develop collaboration methods that take advantage of high-performance networks in a VR system for education about energy technologies. They will deploy the resulting system to assess the value of the tools. The overall project goal is to explore, and to help spark, the transformative potential of high-performance networks and emerging VR devices for education and other beneficial uses. The project aims to advance technology for enhanced student motivation and learning. This can improve STEM education, as explored with the Virtual Energy Center. The networked environment has the potential to broaden access to expert instructors and support more diverse cross-community collaboration between students and/or instructors
